Bryan/College Station, Texas
KJXJ - 103.9 Jack FM
Brazos Valley Communications' AAA formatted 103.9 the X (KXCS) flipped to Variety Hits as 103.9 Jack FM on March 21, 2007. The station had been modern rock until June 2005, making Variety Hits the third format for the station within a two-year span.
The station changed call letters to KJXJ on March 29, 2007, with the new calls somewhat reflecting the new Jack FM format.
The owners of KJXJ have a construction permit from the FCC to change the station's city of license from Cameron, TX to Franklin, TX and downgrade from a C2 signal (25,000 watts at a height of 696') to a C3 signal (8,700 watts at 550'), removing it from being a rimshot into the neighboring Austin and Waco markets. The station would retain (if not slightly improve) its coverage of Bryan and College Station with the move.
