Clear Channel brought Variety Hits to Fargo on May 12, 2005 when it flipped Outlaw Country 92.7 (KFAB-FM) to Variety Hits as 92.7 My FM.
However, the station's time in Fargo would prove to be short-lived. On October 18, 2005, Clear Channel dropped My 92.7 and reverted the station back to its previous identity as Outlaw Country 92.7. The move was unusual on two fronts: it's rare for a station to return to an abandoned identity, and it's surprising that Clear Channel dropped the format before the Fall 2005 Arbitron ratings could come out, which would be the first indication of how the station was doing from a ratings standpoint.
