Huntington, WV
WXBW - 101.5 Bob FM
(Station changed formats on March 24, 2009)
Connoisseur Media flipped classic rock 101.5 The River (WRYV) to Variety Hits as 101.5 Bob FM at 10 p.m. on August 26, 2008. Along with the flip, the station gained new call letters WXBW concurrent with the format change.
In January 2011, Paul Braden announced that he was selling country music-formatted 104.1 WPAY-FM (licensed to Portsmouth, OH) to Northern Kentucky University. On February 1, 2011, NKU began simulcasting non-commercial AAA (Album Adult Alternative) 89.7 WNKU on WPAY-FM, which gained new call letters of WNKE on June 23, 2011 following the FCC's approval of the sale.
With a vacancy in the country music genre in the area after the change, Connoisseur jettison Variety Hits from WXBW in favor of classic country as Big Buck Country 101.5 on March 28, 2011.
