4QFM - River 94.9
Billing itself as "The biggest variety of hits from the 70s, 80s, 90 and... whatever!", River 94.9 went on the air in December 2001 at the studios of the old Star 106.9, which closed earlier that year. It started off as a pop station; in late 2003, under new management, the station flipped from CHR to Variety Hits.
The station broadcasts from Ipswich, which is 18½ miles from Brisbane. At 50,000 watts, it has a pretty nice coverage area, providing a good signal into Brisbane, though mountains to the northeast block the signal a bit in that direction.
