CJET-FM - 92.3 Jack FM
(Shifted to Classic Hits on November 9, 2005)
On January 12, 2004, Rogers Broadcasting flipped Country 92 (CJET-FM) to Variety Hits as 92.3 Jack FM. The station has some coverage of the Ottawa market, though not the full city-grade signal there that 93.9 Bob FM (CKKL) has. However, as a condition of its license, CJET-FM is prohibited from soliciting advertising from the Ottawa area.
In early November 2005, the station shifted toward playing 60s/70s, still keeping the JACK-FM name, imaging and branding. It now plays only 2-3 80s songs per hour along with the older songs, but nothing newer, from what I'm told.
Canada has rules about FM stations having to play a certain percentage of hit songs, but in Smiths Falls that percentage is lower, at only 15%, than it is in most other parts of the country.
