KKXX-FM - 93.1 Pirate Radio
American General Media brought the Variety Hits format to Bakersfield at 4 PM on May 2, 2005, flipping Real Rock 93.1 (which had an active rock format) to 93.1 Pirate Radio. AGM's Bakersfield General Manager, Roger Fessler, was quoted in Radio & Records as saying, "I believe this format to be the next generation of Oldies — Baby Boomer Oldies." Despite using the term oldies, R&R reports that the station plans to follow the pattern of playing hits from the 70s up to today.
