WKZQ-FM - 101.7 Chuck FM
Heritage rock station 96 Wave (96.1 WAVF) abruptly dropped its modern rock at 5:00 p.m. EDT on Friday August 31, 2007 to go with Variety Hits as 96.1 Chuck FM.
On September 23, 2008, 96.1 WAVF moved to the Myrtle Beach, SC market and picked up the rock format that had aired 101.7 WKZQ-FM. At the same time, the 101.7 signal moved to Charleston and picked up Variety Hits as 101.7 Chuck FM.
The new 101.7 Chuck FM in Charleston will eventually get its WAVF call letters back, though for now it is legally identified as WKZQ-FM.
