KHJK - 103.7 Jack FM

In November 2004, Clear Channel closed up shop on Rock 101 KLOL, a legacy rock station dating back to 1970, flipping it to Spanish.

In May 2005, Cumulus moved the 103.7 signal (KVST) into the Houston market and decided to play off the displaced Rock 101 by calling the move-in Rock 103 and giving it similar call letters KIOL.

On August 31, 2007, Cumulus brought Variety Hits to Houston (which by that point was the largest market in the United States to have never had the format), flipping KIOL and becoming 103.7 Jack FM. The move was surprising in that Cumulus had mostly avoided the format, with the only two in its company being the two Jack FMs it inherited in the Susquehanna Broadcasting purchase in May 2006.

The last Rock 103.7 songs
Tom Petty "Last Dance with Mary Jane"
Foreigner "Cold As Ice"
*LINER* "Your world will change after this next song is over"
Jimi Hendrix "Fire"

Debut of 103.7 Jack FM
Rolling Stones "Jumpin' Jack Flash"
Prince "Let's Go Crazy"

The call letters were changed to KHJK on September 12, 2007.
