KQOB - 96.9 Bob FM
Citadel's first move into the Variety Hits format came on November 3, 2003, when the company flipped Country K-Bull 96.9 (KQBL) to Variety Hits as 96.9 Bob FM. It changed its call letters to KQOB on December 8, 2003. The signal is a booming Class C with a 72 mile coverage range, but because it's licensed to the town of Enid (and because of FCC restrictions), it provides city-grade coverage to only the northern 2/3 or so of the Oklahoma City market. To the north it covers all sorts of towns, including Stillwater, the home of Oklahoma State University. But when it comes to covering the Oklahoma City metro, it is at a disadvantage compared with other stations with better signal placements. However, Bob FM has outpaced the signal's former country format in the ratings, at least so far.
