San Antonio, TX
KJXK - 102.7 Jack FM
The 102.7 frequency in San Antonio was, for years, the home of CHR KTFM. In December 2003, Infinity Broadcasting jettisoned the longtime format to make the station rock as K-Rock 102.7, with new call letters KSRX. Most notable for the station was that it had Kidd Chris as a local morning show host; he's a rising star in the business who will eventually be a major player on the national scene.
But Kidd Chris eventually parted ways with the station, and with a difficult opponent in the market in Cox's KISS-FM, the newly rebranded CBS Radio decided to flip K-Rock 102.7 to Jack FM on January 4, 2006. The station's call letters changed to KJXK on January 11, 2006.
In May 2006, CBS Radio announced that it would be selling its radio holdings in several markets, including San Antonio. Border Media announced that it was buying the station in August 2006; it closed on the purchase in June 2007.
