WLGD - 98.7 Will FM

Kool 98.7 (WKOO-FM) abandoned its Oldies format (following a nationwide trend) to become an Adult Contemporary station as Lite 98.7 on April 5, 2005. The NextMedia station even dropped its longtime WKOO-FM call letters, becoming WILT.
The run as an AC station was short-lived, however. On July 24, 2006, at 3 PM Eastern, WILT went Variety Hits as 98.7 Will FM. Coincidentally, the call letters that were obtained for the Lite 98.7 format also fit the new name close enough to be retained.
On March 16, 2008, the station picked up new call letters WGLD. That was a prelude to what happened on March 31, 2008, where Will FM moved to the 104.5 frequency in the adjacent New Bern/Morehead City, NC market. Replacing Variety Hits on 98.7 was Spanish "La Gran D".
