KKXX-FM - 93.1 Pirate Radio

American General Media brought the Variety Hits format to Bakersfield at 4 PM on May 2, 2005, flipping Real Rock 93.1 (which had an active rock format) to 93.1 Pirate Radio. AGM Bakersfield's General Manager, Roger Fessler, was quoted in Radio & Records as saying, "I believe this format to be the next generation of Oldies — Baby Boomer Oldies."
The station flipped formats on July 20, 2009, dropping Variety Hits to go CHR (Contemporary Hit Radio aka Top 40) as Hot Hits 93.1.
