Waitt Radio, which dropped Bob FM on New Year's Eve 2006 from sister station KOPW-FM, brought Variety Hits back to Omaha on December 26, 2007, replacing AC KLTQ "Lite Rock 101.9" with "101.9 the Big O". Two days later, the station picked up new call letters KOOO.
KCTY-FM - 106.9 Bob FM
Station changed formats on 12/31/2006
The 106.9 signal in Omaha was AAA (Album Adult Alternative) as The City 106.9, but switched to Classic Hits as Retro 106.9 on March 12, 2004. The station switched formats again just 14 months later, shifting to Variety Hits as 106.9 Bob FM at noon on May 26, 2005.
The first song played under the new format was "Get The Party Started" by Pink. This was the first station owned by NRG Media to go with a Variety Hits format.
On December 31, 2006, Waitt flipped the station to hip hop as Power 106.9, with new call letters KOPW-FM.
