Clear Channel's Alice @ 95.5 shifted from Modern AC to Variety Hits on April 1, 2005, which history may show was the day that proved to be a major tipping point for radio stations adopting the format across the country. Interestingly, Clear Channel kept the station's existing name with the format shift.
