KWYS-FM - SAM 102.9
(Station went silent on March 21, 2006)

Chaparral Broadcasting bought 102.9 KWYS-FM from Alpine Broadcasting in August 2004. At that time the station (licensed to Island Park, ID) was silent.

It returned with an Adult Album Alternative (AAA) format on December 11, 2004. On June 7, 2005, the station flipped to Variety Hits, picking up the brand new, Westwood One satellite-fed SAM (Simply About Music) format, which had debuted just one day before. The station has an 80 mile coverage radius and reaches mostly rural land in Idaho and Montana.

On March 21, 2006, the station went silent again. It re-emerged briefly with classic rock in early 2007 before going silent once more.
